Getting started

Make your first session a small one

A simple route into MojiMichi: choose a manageable deck, try a game and look back at your practice.

Choose one starting point

MojiMichi includes hiragana, katakana, numbers, radicals, Jōyō kanji and vocabulary. Pick one area for your first session. If Japanese writing is new to you, the kana decks are one possible starting point; if you already read kana, browse the kanji or vocabulary decks.

Look through the cards

Browse the deck before starting. Look at the forms, meanings and readings available on its cards. A deck is a practice set, so you can return to it rather than trying to finish everything in one sitting.

Pick a game and check its options

Different games use the cards in different ways. Some offer answer-display or drawing options before play. Read those options, choose the mode you want and start with a manageable selection.

Finish by looking back

After practising, open the dashboard. Look at the game, answer modes and score together. Decide what you would like to revisit next time. Use a signed-in account when you want the session kept online; guest progress lasts only for the current visit.
